To Our Community:
NOVA recognizes that these last few weeks have been heartbreaking for the AAPI community and the extended community-at-large. There is a mixture of fear, sadness, anger, numbness, and grief on multiple levels and it’s important to allow yourself commensurate time and space to grieve. It is frightening to imagine that this could have been anyone in our close circles.
Racism directed towards members of the AAPI community is real and ongoing. AAPIs are too often left out of the discussion of racial justice,
which minimizes our experiences and our collective identities. We must stand together against deliberate discriminatory acts. Now is the time to call out injustices to achieve accountability and change. Let us amplify our voices to create a space where we feel safe, respected, and honored. To move forward and heal, we cannot remain silent.
