Advice: Only you can be your biggest enemy or cheerleader; Don't be so hard on yourself and always try to be kind and positive to yourself.
I am very proud to be Vietnamese-American. Growing up, there was not a big Vietnamese community in my town and was nonexistence when I went to college. Upon graduating from college and transiting to becoming a young professional I wanted to be part of a community that understood what it was like growing up in a transnational family. NOVA for me has made steps forward by bridging the generational gap and creating a space for Viet-Americans to thrive while connecting to our roots. The community events NOVA organizes has positively challenged me to think outside the box and deepen my understanding of migration/assimilation barriers. I hope through NOVA I am able to carry on traditions and bring forth the next generation of powerful educators, community mobilizers and influential leaders. Outside of NOVA you can find me discovering new running trails.
Fun fact: my sister (Momo) and I just signed up for our first half-marathon. Hopefully, this will be a new fun hobby/ tradition for the both of us!
